Hull actor Gemma Oaten reads poem "Times and Tides"

March 30, 2018

Good Friday seems the most apt time to give this poem another airing. "Times and Tides" – is inspired by the photography of Dr Alec Gill MBE and the people of the Hessle Road fishing community – and is read by Hull-born actress Gemma Oaten – star of Emmerdale and Holby City – among many other achievements. The poem was part of a tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of the Triple Trawler Disaster and was commissioned in February this year by Hull City AFC as part of its commemorations.

As Hull folk take part in the traditional queuing for fish and chips across the city today, it is an apt time to consider the true price of the catch. Happy Easter.
